Editorial Policy
See how RemittanceCalc researches, calculates, updates and corrects money transfer, exchange-rate, provider and remittance-tax content.
Last updated: August 28, 20261. Editorial Principles
Our content should be useful, understandable and transparent about limitations. We aim to avoid presenting a single advertised fee as the total transfer cost when exchange-rate pricing or other charges can materially affect value.
We prefer practical explanations over marketing language. A provider comparison should identify the transaction inputs that can change the result rather than declaring one provider universally “best” for every user.
2. Source Selection
For legal, regulatory or tax topics, we prefer primary sources such as statutes, government agencies, regulators and official forms or instructions. For provider pricing and service rules, we prefer official provider pricing pages, help centers, terms and transaction disclosures.
Secondary sources can be useful for context, but a primary source generally carries more weight when the question concerns what a regulator or provider currently requires.
We avoid relying on anonymous claims for important factual conclusions when a better source is available.
3. Calculator Methodology
Many RemittanceCalc tools are input-driven. A user enters the live send amount, transfer fee, provider exchange rate or other known charge. The calculator performs arithmetic using those numbers.
For exchange-rate markup tools, the basic comparison is between a benchmark rate and provider rate. A typical percentage calculation is the rate difference divided by the benchmark rate. We may then apply that percentage to the transfer amount to show an approximate value difference.
For recipient-amount tools, the result depends on whether the transfer fee is paid separately or deducted from the amount sent, the provider exchange rate, and any receiving deduction entered by the user.
These calculators are estimates rather than binding quotes. Unknown intermediary fees or last-minute provider changes may not be included.
4. Provider Pages and Comparisons
Provider-specific pages should explain which inputs can change pricing, such as destination, amount, funding method, payout method, transfer speed, channel and promotion.
Comparison pages should encourage like-for-like comparisons. We do not consider it fair to compare a bank-funded bank deposit with a card-funded cash pickup and then attribute the entire difference to the provider brand.
When we describe a provider’s own fee or service rule, we aim to attribute that information to the provider’s current documentation where practical.
5. Tax and Legal Content
Tax and legal pages are educational summaries, not individualized advice. When a rule is proposed rather than final, the page should label it as proposed so readers do not confuse the proposal with enacted or final guidance.
When official instructions change, newer authoritative guidance should take priority over older explanatory text.
6. Updates
Money-transfer pricing changes often, so we avoid promising that a historical example remains current. Examples are used to explain the math.
We may update pages when provider documentation changes, laws or regulations change, calculators are improved or a correction is verified.
7. Corrections Policy
If we confirm a meaningful factual or calculator error, we aim to correct the page. Minor spelling or formatting changes may be fixed without a formal correction note.
For substantive issues, readers can contact [email protected] with the URL, disputed statement and supporting source.
8. Separation From Advertising
Advertising revenue should not determine our calculator formulas or factual conclusions. Advertisers do not automatically receive editorial approval rights simply because they purchase advertising.
If a page contains a sponsored placement or material affiliate relationship, we aim to disclose it clearly enough that readers can distinguish commercial content from editorial content.
9. Use of Automation and Tools
We may use software, calculators and automated tools to help produce or check content. Automation does not remove our responsibility to present sources, limitations and methodology clearly.
10. Reader Responsibility
Because provider quotes and exchange rates can change, users should confirm final pricing at checkout. RemittanceCalc is a decision-support resource, not the provider processing the transfer.
